If (especially facebook) buttons are close to the body text on the left, as they are larger than the originals, they can cover the text of the webpage (example, from theregister.co.uk, attached).  Can the "enable..." buttons be made smaller or the text configurable?

I'm sure this has been requested many times before.  I also would like this same problem "solved".  An easy way would be to remove the text and just have a greyed out version of the icon replace the active icon.

Just shortening the text on the Facebook and Google+ buttons would be a huge improvement.

For some reason the Twitter tweet button is replaced with the ShareMeNot log plus 5 letters "Tweet", but the Facebook Like button is replaced with the Sharemenot logo plus 27 characters "Enable Facebook Like button". You could halve this problem by removing the unnecessary words "Enable" and "button", if they're not needed for the Twitter button, then they're not needed for the Facebook or Google+ buttons.

Thanks for the feedback! The reason the Facebook and Google+ buttons are different is that, because of differences in their implementation, ShareMeNot requires users to click twice (once to enable/load the real button, and a second time to click the real button). With the ShareMeNot tweet button replacement (and others), on the other hand, users only need to click once. The difference in text is meant to convey that just clicking the ShareMeNot replacement button won't be sufficient to carry out the action (it will only enable the real button). However, many have requested that we shorten the text -- I'll look into doing so this week.

Thanks!

Hi all,

Hmm, I just realized that the buttons in the current version (both Firefox and Chrome) actually are already smaller than the ones you describe. Would you mind verifying whether your'e running the latest version of ShareMeNot? If you are, you might try un- and re-installing the add-on?

Thanks!

I have the latest (2.3) version, and I have the same problem.
Example attached.

Otherwise good piece of software, thanks!

Ah, I see, it's the LinkedIn one that's causing trouble. Some of the other less popular ones (like Stumbleupon) might also be too long (apparently we only make "Like" and "Tweet" shorter a while back). I'll try to push a fix sometime this week.

Thanks!

Franzi

Update: I've reduced the size of the LinkedIn button to match the others. Hopefully this will fix the issue on most sites. Please let me know if there are additional problems.

ShareMeNot for Chrome is updated already, ShareMeNot for Firefox is pending review.

Thanks!

Franzi
