Correction: where it says:

[[
JAR: ... what I've implemented in apache... sort of a cgi script...
[pointer to that code?] [I think it's in the shared names wiki] Ah...
http://sharedname.org/page/Meetings/2009-04-29/Demo says
Code
* http://svn.neurocommons.org/svn/trunk/sharednames/wiki303.pl
* http://svn.neurocommons.org/svn/trunk/sharednames/wiki303.xsl
]]

The scribe picked up the wrong demo; this one is Alan's. The one I was
referring to is
http://svn.neurocommons.org/svn/trunk/snhack/
and is related to the design notes I wrote
http://sharedname.org/page/Design_notes_%28JAR%29
I obviously didn't pursue this very far.

Care must be taken in this kind of thing to avoid injection attacks.

Hi all -

To those who don't know me, I'm Ben Hyde, I did a bit of work last
fall to try and make some forward progress on getting a Shared Names.
One impenetrable view of that work is here <http://sn.cozy.org/db_browse/
>.

I see from recent traffic that folks are kicking the tires on the PURL
aspects of this problem. Excellent.

My take away from that work was that the challenge in getting a shared
names system deployed is settles in on a few key elements:

- hands on the oars
- puzzling out the glue
- curating that glue going forward
- the deploy of a working system
- the sysadmin/IT/coordination of a working system
- keeping the quality screws nice and tight

By glue I mean the little tangles of pattern matching et. al. that
knows how to map from a given shared name to the 3rd party provider of
the data, along with what ever data conversion and quality assertions
are needed.

That list is probably in the order I think things need to be addressed.
