Hello again folks,

The SHARE used vehicular fleet is still on its last leg. SHARE depends on these vehicles to wash approximately 500 sets of blankets every week, and to bring SHARE staff members to homeless shelters distributed all over King County.

Here is the current status of our fleet:

  • “Apple” – a Toyota Camry – has over 210K miles and still isn't able to exceed 50 MPH. The muffler needs to be completely replaced and it eats two quarts of oil a week.  This vehicle works great for in town driving; however, most of our work is in outlying areas.

  • “Hattie Mae” – a large GMC Passenger Van – has over 220K miles. The back doors are unusable and it has a coolant leak.

  • “Angel” – a Honda Accord Sedan – is currently un-drivable. It has a sensor problem, bad timing and a bad shift solenoid.

  • “Bloomers” – a Toyota Camry Wagon – was stolen, currently in the evidence bull pen. We have not been able to go look at Bloomers; however, we think that the ignition was punched. It has wheel damage(could be just a flat or something more serious), multiple dents and scratches.

  • “Prince” a Toyota Sienna Van – hatch back latch is broken. Has an electrical problem with the tail lights which cannot be accessed due to the broken latch.

  • “Casper” – a Ford E-150 Van – has over 220K miles. Was side-swiped on the passenger side. Side door is dented and unusable. Also it has electrical issues.

  • “Wendy” – a Ford Windstar Van – currently un-drivable. It has transmission issues(bad transmission respondent sensor), brown coolant(hoping just a flush will fix?) and black power steering fluid.

Some SHARE staff members have to shift to using the Metro bus – not a time saving measure with shelter locations spread from Issaquah to Shoreline, Maple Leaf to Rainier Beach.

If you know someone who has a vehicle and they are a little shy about donating because it isn't perfect, show them this email. They will see that pretty much ANYTHING is better than what we have now. (All of this is tax deductible too!)

Mechanics and tools are always welcome too, and also tax deductible.

Just email us back, or leave a message on the SHARE voicemail (206) 517-9011 for Sheri Rowe, SHARE O.L.C.
