Dear Valued Ally of SHARE:
Greetings from the 500+ men and women of SHARE. Two years ago We, the
homeless men and women of King County, declared a State of Emergency
for Homeless People in King County. It is our analysis that The King
County Committee to End Homelessness (CEH) has continued to avoid the
true causes of homelessness – the lack of living wage jobs, rent
increases, eviction, gentrification, and the failure of the market to
provide affordable housing. The CEH has even ignored its own 10 Year
Plan’s call for Interim Survival Mechanisms such as encampments and
simple shelter.
We invite you to our Re- Declaration of Emergency meeting Wednesday
March 7th, to hear what homeless people really want and to support
us. SHARE, Real Change, WHEEL and Nickelsville will issue a Report
Card on the CEH – how they have done responding to the Eight Emergency
Points we made two years ago. We will conclude by recommending what
Concerned Citizens can do to help end homelessness.
This meeting will be held at 7 PM Wednesday, March 7th at the Weter
Memorial Hall at Seattle Pacific University located at 3317 5th Ave
West, Seattle WA 98119. There will be a pre-meeting dinner at Tent
City 3, which is presently staying on Wallace Field at SPU, which you
are also invited to. The meal will start at 5:30 PM, followed by the
7 PM meeting in Weter Memorial Hall.
Thank you for your concern and support in this matter. We would
welcome your joining us Wednesday.
Sincerely,
Members of SHARE
