Hi,

Watch out this BBC documentary "BBC Partition The Day India Burned".

We all know the India-Pakistan boarder was decided based the population of
the place. This led to the communal violence since people wanted to get that
piece of land into their part. Which went beyond control due to retaliation. People
looted, raped, killed, other community to make them leave the place.

The worst part of the story is the situation of women aged 10 to 40 at that time. It's
heart tearing to see that families had to sacrifice lives of their beloved daughters,
sisters since they were not able to protect them. The documentary mentions story
of one sikh family in Lahore, which slaughtered all females of the family to
protect them from being raped and converted, girls even of age 10. I was not aware of
this ugly face of partition.

This all happened under the observation of the Mighty British rule which Indian's
could not throw away from there grounds in last 200 years. Obviously Britishers had
no interest left in India and did not bother about its people and the problems they
were facing due to partition.

But what about Pandit Nehru and Muhammad ali Zinnah. These two who had a pivot
role in Independent India's fate. Were they able to see what was happening with
poor countrymen shifting from one place to another. Were they able to come out
of their cozy drawing rooms, British style parties.

Whenever I think about the history, I fail to be proud of it. We were weak, were
ruled by others, our women were not safe, we had to kill our sisters and daughter
since we could not protect them. We were immorally strong to kill our brother over
property issues, brutally, but had to courage to protect our land and people.

Moreover it's not that what happened then, however it's about what's happening now ?
Are we yet strong enough to fight against the wrong ?
Do we have the courage to stand against whole lot to keep our honor ?
Until when we'll keep compromising ?

Think..
