Fair enough !

 

I still do not favour glorifying one, however big his/her performance in a field might be !  It could only get into one's head deep !

Appreciating one's talent is one thing, but glorifying it is another.  Exceptions could only be in case of high profile philanthropists/

social workers (like Mahathma Gandhi or Mother Teressa) or industrialists/scientists (as Sudha & Narayanamurthy or Abdul

Kalam, or the Tatas for that matter, for all their great contribution to the Nation, and not adding to one's own wealth.

 

That at any rate is  my personal view, my own interest on Cricket notwithstanding  !

I quite agree with the view that there is an overload of emails addressed to the Sharan group.
I would urge all members to restrict themselves to such topics as philanthropy or noble charity, articles on great contributions to humankind, or elder's health or even appropriate humour, when it comes to addressing the Sharan group.

For those who have a huge repertoire of messages or forwards to send, it might be a good idea to ascertain for themselves from those, who may like to receive such mails.

i have observed that a number of times , when our members send a mail to our group , instead of opening a new " compose mail " format , they simply send as a reply , the message , to the last sender of the group message , with a result that all the earlier messages sent to this particular sender gets resent . the mail hereunder is a typical example of such an act . this unnecessarily loads the main mail , and this also could be a source of irritation , as the receiver sees a lot of messages , unconnected with the current mail . 

 

this could also be part of the mail usage advise we could give to members . a little amount of patience on the part of the sender , could have the this situation avoided or averted .

We seem to be wasting  a lot of time debating on this trivial issue, by exchange of lot of mails also tiring that way.

 

Philanthropy, humankind, noble charity are all fine, but that merely is not the end of one's life, the personal &

professional front of one notwithstanding.  All work, no play, is no good, applicable also to those at their advancing

age.  That at any rate, is how I see it, speaking for mysel

 

Maybe we could have selective group-Ids  :

 

                                  -   One in general

                                  -   Another covering only those interested in current topics incl sports, humor, and other

                                       creative or recreative subjects.

 

The other option would appear to drop the group-ID altogether, leaving  the individual IDs still intact.    Even as of now,

not all Fwds go to every member anyway, as all fingers are not alike.

Dear Mr. Srinivasan ,

    I apologize for having sent my mail tagged onto the other mails but I had no choice in the matter --- the large numbers of fwds recd has corrupted my add book and the ONLY way I can send mail is by " reply to sender " . Not being very computer-savvy or regular on the computer either , I had no idea how to send just my mail and delete the rest .
