At a committee meeting held at 7 pm, Friday Nov 20, 09 at the undersigned's residence,
the following members were present to discuss the scenario arising out of the group mails and reactions thereto,
besides other matters of common interest
President Prof V Narasimhan
TS Venkataraman
TRN Sampath
TV Seshadri
KS Srinivasan
R. Shanker
Dorairaj, Wg Cdr Natarajan, DK Oza expressed inability to attend
Rama Gopalan was indisposed and Radha Shanker was preoccupied
The Committee felt and agreed that this unfortunate scenario has evolved despite good intentions
The following guidelines for usage of the Sharan group email id were proposed, discussed and finalized
1.Members should use this group mail id only for dissemination / communication of information pertaining to SHARAN's activities, bulletins and Sharan related matters
2. The purpose of SHARAN is to bring people in the group together. So if members in SHARAN wish to communicate individually with one another, by all means this can be done provided the recipient of the mail is comfortable with the same.They may form their own groups separately
3. Sometimes some recipients reply by clicking on the reply button to the group and then such mails reach persons who may not be interested in such mail. This may kindly be borne in mind when answering
4. We all need to be together, need to communicate with one another, yet we need to respect each and everyone's space and privacy. So if some recipient of unwanted mail wishes to express he / she may do so by addressing the sender individually and it is binding upon such a sender to respect that wish
5. The entire list of members and their ids is being looked into. The first step will be to remove the names of non-members.
This action will be taken on top priority and we should be having a new updated list in the course of the next few days.
6. With utmost respect to all those who have expressed a desire to have their names/ids deleted from the list, I would only suggest that their names continue to be in the list. We shall strive to tighten the system and take up the issue in case there is any repetition, which I wish to believe will not occur
