creating a legend: the suggestion of creating a screen overlay using
an image of a legend created in MapWindowGIS or any other GIS software
is not entirely satisfactory - text tends to be blurry; I have not
been able to generate crisper text no matter what resolution I use to
generate the jpeg image that becomes the overlay - maybe I haven't hit
upon the right combination of settings. I would like to see a legend
builder function in Shape2Earth that uses kml commands to generate the
overlay legend when a user is running GE. I would like to be able to
build a crisp legend for both shape files and image files.

A legend would be very useful for a lot of people. Google Earth does
not really have one that works the way people would like it to. I
currently don't have a solution, but am considering writing an
application that would look like a table of contents that could auto-
populated from Shape2Earth and then manipulated by the user for a
finer degree of control, which would then be exported as a jpeg
overlay into Google Earth.

The biggest change that is planned for Shape2Earth in 2008 is the
ability to use other software besides just MapWindow to create
shapefile symbols for Google Earth to provide more flexibility for
users. Shape2Earth will be able to run in a stand-alone mode, as well
as in conjunction with other software (such as ESRI's ArcExplorer,
ArcGIS Explorer, and others).
