Data shifted in GE

I used the Shape2Earth to convert some manhole and sewer line
locations from shapefiles to GE and it looks like either the manholes
or the sewer features got shifted a few feet. I have not determined
yet which has moved from the shapefile location. Anyhow, both
shapefiles have prj files defining the state plane coordinate system
they are in. Any suggestions?

Thanks

It is not unusual at all for Google Earth’s imagery to be off. In
some cases, it can be off by quite a bit. They are mosaicing
terabytes of data from many different sources. If you can find a know
point, you can create a placemark on that site in Google Earth and
extract the coordinates to try and determine any potential errors in
the imagery placement.

I do not believe it is the imagery that is the problem. I am using
two separate shapefiles that display fine in ArcView or MapWindow but
the lines get shifted a few feet or so when converted and displayed in
GE. The points are displayed fine when compared to the same imagery
in ArcView or MapWindow.

That would be consistent with the imagery being off in Google Earth.
To confirm, you can set the projection in ArcMap to WGS84 and record
the Latitude and Longitude from a known point, then enter that data as
a placemark in Google Earth to see how it lines up there.

If the data lines up, we would have to look at the proj4 library to
reprojects the data in MapWindow.

This does not make sense to me. If the manholes (points) and sewer
(lines) display correctly in ArcView or MapWindow why would it be an
imagery problem in GE if the manholes display in the correct location
but the lines are shifted??

It looks like I did not read your first message close enough. If the
vector points and lines match up in GIS, but not in Google Earth, then
you are correct about it not being related to imagery. Would it be
possible to look at the shapefiles to see if it is an issue with the
reprojection engine?
