This aint been asked in a while but was wondering what people are watching?

Since I've not been playing games at all the last while (and wont be for the foreseeable future), I have found myself catching up on shows I started but never finished or let slide and basically watching more TV then I have in a long time.

Recently Finished
Lie to Me - Seasons 1 to 3
Mad Men - Season 5
Episodes - Season 2

Watching right now:
Fringe - Season 2
Dead Boss - Season 1
Torchwood - Miracle Day (3ep left)
BoardWalk Empire - Season 2 (2ep left)

To Watch:
Game of Thrones - Season 2
The Walking Dead - Season 2

The only think new (that aint out yet) I have lined up is Elementary....a US Sherlock?...my be aweful but the cast is resonable(Lucy Liu, Jonny Lee Miller and Aidan Quinn)

Quite quiet on this front at the moment.

Currently watching True Blood & The Newsroom. Have The Borgias to finish.

I tried The Borgias but never grabbed me (got 3-4 episodes in)...I'm assuming ti improved as it went?

Hmm. TBH I don't think there was ever any real change in quality. If you didn't care for the first four eps, I can't see you caring for the remainder. We thought it was quite fun in a trashy romp-y way.

Jeremy Irons gets better lines in season two, which helps it a bit.

The fact that we're behind on it and aren't really bothered is a pretty clear indication that it's a second tier show though.

Thats good to know. I do find that giving a show 3-4 episodes to catch me is usually enough but I'm sure I miss out sometimes by not made be hanging in there.

It has all the look of a tier 1 show..fantastic sets, costumes, great lead..I guess its more soap opera then I like...Though to get 3 series it cant be doing too bad...

I'm watching re-runs of Dallas :)
Have the first episode of 'The Newsroom' on skyplus, so I'll try that over the weekend. Working my way through Season One of Farscape as well.

I'll have to give Newsroom a shot...

I must recommend Fringe if you were a lover of X-files. I watched the first season and really enjoyed it but for some reason (I believe around the time the girls were born) I never got back into it. Having jumped back into it I'm really really enjoying it. It has a good balance of standalone episodes with just enough thread to tie everything together....better the X-Files ever managed.

Farscape only gets better and better in my view. Season one (if I remeber right) was mixed bag but its well sticking with.

That seems to be the general consensus on Farscape, so I'm sticking with it, despite feeling like I'm watching Fraggle Rock at times :)

Thats exactly how I felt at the start. In fact it took me to go back to it more then once before it clicked. It does get a hell of a lot darker which kinda balances out the Fraggle Rock feel over time.

The phones, the computers, the cars, the dress sense........maybe not in context or the story is trying to impart but it has visually dated (it's 13 years since it aired).
If you watched it first time round you have a connection with it so it will might not bother you...I dont have that connection.

It's a problem I have with any modern set dramas..10 years out they all "look" dated....fickle I know but I cant help it.
#
The Wire has suffered the same faith...shot in 4:3 and only in Standard Def....I just cant power through it!!

Thought I would ask and update again this again:

I've just finished Fringe, which I whole heartedly recommend. One of the best Sci-Fi series I’ve watched and really nails the ending (unlike Lost so I’m told).

I am also one episode away from finishing Elementary. It’s no Sherlock but it is a very easy watch with a rather good cast (Lee Millar, Lucy Lou, Adian Quinn).

I’ve finished the first 2 seasons of The Big Bang theory. I am so late to this party but really is some fantastic writing & funny as hell.

I still have some things to catch up on that are must watches Breaking Bad S2, Game of Thrones S2, Boardwalk Empire S3 & Walking Dead S3.

But I some on my maybes to watch : Warehouse 13 (hammy sci-fi but for some reason it tickles me), Homeland, Arrow and American Horror Story.

Anything you guys are watching that worth keeping an eye on?

Ripper Street on BBC1 on Sundays is pretty good -- gritty cop drama in Victorian Whitechapel.

Walking Dead when it starts back up next month.

Also, Sheila's been motoring through The Shield, which is all on LoveFilm instant, and she's liking it a lot.

Yeah, its shot in Ireland I believe. Have heard good things about it but I missed the first 2 episodes before I could catch it on Sky+. Must set that to download.

Looks like it's only getting the one series but also looks like it will at least get some closure. Nothing worse then watching a show that never gets time to close out after being cancelled.

Just finished Season 1 of Mad Men and starting Season 1 of The Wire.

Working through S9 of Grey's Anatomy with Clare and Cliodhna, and S5 Merlin, S1 Sinbad and S5 Babylon 5 with the whole family.

Pity, it is a good series. Caprica was the same, it was just taking off when they canned it. Seems like if you don't get instant success these days you get pulled. Amazing ST:TNG made it past Season One and Two!

I got a few episode into Caprica but knowing it was never going to be closed out put me off finishing it, I still have it sitting there so I may well go back to it. Really to love the aesthetic. As for TNG, I think it was a different time... your right these days if things don’t get ratings out of the gate they are often doomed within 5 or 6 episodes. It's why I've taking to waiting till the first season is out of the way before I pick it up. But you always get the odd gem that survives...Fringe should never have made it past season 1 but for watever reason it did.

Snap, I just started Season 3 of Breaking Bad also!

I don't really watch much TV, but also recently caught up with Walking Dead, new season starts this month I believe.

No Merlin this year of course, Don't know if Atlantis is any good?  Homeland keeps getting mentioned in the office too...

Not sure either on Atlantis. Homeland Season 1 is supose to be fantasic. Some even believe is should have stopped there.  I think once I get through Breaking Bad I will give it a shot.

Homeland season 1 is indeed very good. We only watched the S2 opener though, and failed to get around to the rest of it, though I believe it's on 4OD in its entirety at the moment, so we do have vague plans to catch it.

Atlantis picks up more or less exactly where Merlin left off; if you liked Merlin, I'd say you'll like Atlantis.

We're also currently enjoying Agents of SHIELD & Downton, and Sheila's enjoying Peaky Blinders and By Any means on BBC1. The latter of those is Tony Jordan's new project after Hustle finished, and it's very similar in structure, albeit with a much darker tone.

What are you guys thinking of Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D?
Its kinda mindless fun at this stage (much like the Marvel movies I guess). Reminds me alot of  Warehouse 13. Hope it goes all Buffy, keeping it fun but giving depth.

Yes, pretty much that. It's silly sci/fi adventures in a well known, fun universe with a Whedonesque slant to it. About exactly as good as I hoped/expected at first, with loads of room to grow.
