Good morning!

I write today with exciting news from Boston GLOW that I hope you will
share with students, teachers and youth workers. This year, we are thrilled
to sponsor our Third Annual Ignite Change Leadership Contest for girls ages
14-19 living in Boston, Cambridge or Somerville!

Please distribute this information to any young woman you may know who is
interested in creating change in her community as well as interested in the
possibility of a

$2500 Scholarship, laptop computer, and a $1000 grant and support to put
her project into action!

How Does the Contest Work?

Girls entering the contest are required to answer the question:

If you had $1000 and one year, what could you change for women and girls in
your community?

? Entries must be in English and should be no less that 1500 words.

? Entries must have the application cover sheet found at
http://www.bostonglow.org/apply_now

When the essay is completed, the entrant must mail it to:

How Does the Judging Work?

All entries will be judged equally by a panel of 5 Female Community
Leaders. The essays will not be judged on grammar, syntax or punctuation.
Essays will be judged on clarity, creativity, effectiveness of the plan
outlined and impact of the proposed plan. Remember, we are looking for a
plan that we can make a reality!

Ten Contest Finalists will be announced in March!!

? One scholarship of $2500 and a tablet will be awarded to the winner as
well as $1000 to make her plan a reality

? Two scholarships of $1000 and a tablet will be awarded to each of the
runners up

? Seven scholarships of $250 will be awarded to the remaining finalists

? A gift bag containing more prizes will be given to the finalists at the
award banquet in their honor

All finalists will also receive professional educational and career
counseling to plan their future. This includes assistance with FAFSA,
figuring out a career path, financial planning, and a career mentor!

Please help us in spreading the word about this important opportunity to
your students and other young women in your life! We have found that
sometimes the girls need extra support and encouragement to enter the
contest, and we trust that you will be the positive role model to help us
provide this opportunity to the right young women!

Thank you again for all you do already in empowering young women in our
