I would like to tell you about the Rose Leis story, an unpublished Yiddish
autobiography.
The complete book is available at
http://www.sound.net/~bbecker. It is there
for the enjoyment of all can and want to read it. Please take a look and
tell me what you think. I would be grateful if you share message this with
any Yiddish reading friends who might enjoy reading it. All I ask is
feedback from those who read it.
Rose Leis, 1887-1980, was my grandmother. She came from Slutsk, Minsk and
emigrated to New York after the pogroms in 1900. The book contains
historical and genealogical information about her father's (Kahan) and
mother's (Mali) families. She refers to her grand father being a prominent
rabbi and the author of talmudic tracts. She writes in a very interesting
way with humor and irony.
