I am co-editing (with Prof Ari Elon of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical
College) an anthology on Tu B'Shvat to be published by the Jewish Publication
Society.
Most of the volume is set, but we do not have some articles or items that we
want. Some things we want covered in this volume may already exist without
our knowing it, others may need to be newly written, and there may be items
that have not occurred to us that should be there, and do occur to you.
Specifically, is anyone aware of articles or studies on the following issues:
1) The reemergence of Tu B'Shvat and tree-planting as a focus for Zionist
organizing?
2) The use of the "the Tree" as a metaphor for the Sphirot in Kabbala?
3) Observance of Tu B'Shvat after the Gemara and before the creation of the
Tu B'Shvat Seder by the Kabbalists of Safed?
4) Knowledgeable synthesis of the importance of trees in global ecological
balance.
In addition, if you know of a study or article that seems likely to be
important to include in such an anthology that I have not noted above, please
let me know about that too.
I would welcome reports of work y'all are doing that would seem to bear on
this anthology.
Please respond directly to me at --

Many thanks -- Arthur Waskow.
