The youth expressed interest in talking about how Anabaptists are
different from other Christians. How would you answer the question?

John helped us get started by sharing an interesting story that he
heard from a Mennonite psychologist who teaches at Fuller Theological
Seminary, which says a lot in a nut shell:

An Evangelical asks an Amish guy, "Are you saved?" The Amish guy
thinks about it for a while, and then he gets a piece of paper and
starts making a list. He gives it to the Evangelical and says, "You'll
have to ask them." The list has the names of his family, friends, and
neighbors.

Shelly also wrote up a list of Mennonite Beliefs or Practices as a
starter for discussion about those differences. They are posted in
the Files section: "Menno.Basic.Beliefs.2.9.09" and "TEN OF THE
ANABAPT VALUES." Shelly noted that she focused on Mennonites in these
lists because the Mennonite perspective was her personal experience.
The youth will also be hearing the Church of the Brethren perspective
during Sunday School and otherwise.
