"How To" of the Day:

How to Create the Ideal Home Theater Audio System

Want the full home audio experience? Assemble a system with these components, and you'll be on your way.

Steps

  1. Get high efficiency, non-resonant transmission line load speakers (patent pending).
  2. Look for extended driver response – up to one and a half octaves above specified high limit and ¾ octave below driver self-resonance.
  3. Seek adjustable tweeter and bass boost – to suit room response and hearing preferences.
  4. Use dynamically damped crossovers - for optimal intelligibility (patent pending).
  5. Look for extended frequency response – to preserve harmonic facing for superior clarity.
  6. Get a system with orthopolar sound propagation – for even sound distribution. Cathedral Sound loudspeakers use two new technologies that previously were not available to audio engineers.

Tips

  • Modern audio systems employ multiple speakers to efficiently and faithfully reproduce the entire sound spectrum. Inductors are used to direct each portion of the sound spectrum to the appropriate loudspeaker or other transducers. Linear, in air inductors, used to properly direct the electrical signal, exhibit large string magnetic fields, as do the driver high powered electromagnets, resulting in a degree of cross coupling interference requiring artful skill and science and internal component arrangement for minimum interference.

Warnings

  • Many home theater audio products have become so computer controlled and digitized that much of the music is lost or processed out. Let's face it, cube satellite speakers are no replacement for loudspeakers. With MP3 audio at a data rate of 128kbs and lower, much of the overtones of the music is lost.

Have a nice day.
