Getting the Ball Rolling on SB4220: New York's Fracking BAN!

Thursday April 5, 2012 9am-5pm

STATEWIDE CALL DAY TO CHAIR OF SENATE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION COMMITTEE

Western New York is the home of Senate Environmental Conservation Committee Chair-- Senator Grisanti. Senate bill 4220, which has been stalled in his committee since LAST YEAR, can protect the entire state from fracking by banning drilling and wastewater treatment. With fracking posed to happen in New York as early as this summer, there's no time to mess around: Grisanti MUST co-sponsor and move forward this bill. The senator needs to hear from New Yorkers that it's his duty, as chair of the Environmental Conservation Committee, to protect our environment and not allow drilling in the state. No more messing around, Senator-- support SB4220 and move it up for a vote!

On the April 5th call-in day, New York residents must show their united strength and demand that Senator Grisanti cosponsor the ban bill, put it up for a vote, and do all in his power to ensure it's passage. Tell the Senator that "Environmental Conservation" does NOT mean DIRTY DRILLING. Can you take a moment to call? The call is easy to make and will help build momentum for a ban on fracking across the state. It only takes a few minutes and makes a big difference. Here's how:

On Thursday, April 5th, between 9am and 5pm, call the senator and tell him to BAN fracking now!

Senator Grisanti (head of the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee) at 877-796-1949. Tell them your name and where you're from, and then simply tell them that they must protect New Yorkers by co-sponsoring bill 4220, a ban on fracking.

Sample script: "Hi, My name is ______ and I live in (city, state). I believe it's Senator Grisanti's duty, as head of the Environmental Conservation Committee, to protect New York's land and people by banning fracking through cosponsorship of bill 4220. Thank you for your time today."
