to Shakespeare Saturdays

As #Shakespeare400 continues, Shakespeare Saturdays is delighted to roll out another ensemble song two months in a row.  This time, the ensemble wedding song is from “The Tempest” when Juno, Ceres, and Iris offered blessings for the upcoming marriage of Ferdinand and Miranda.  The YouTube recording features Ray Allen Fritz, Clara Barton Green, and Josh Alexander, as they sing Shakespeare’s words to the music composed by Donna Stearns.

The Sample Page online shows that the Soprano and Tenor share a staff.  (As an option, the shared staff could be for a Soprano and Mezzo.)  The YouTube recording is in the key of D Major reflecting these vocal ranges:

Soprano:  B (half step below Middle C) up to the 2nd D above Middle C – the vocal range is an octave and a minor third.

Tenor or Mezzo (optional):  B (half step below Middle C) up to the (written) 2nd F# above Middle C – the vocal range is an octave and a fifth for the tenor; the vocal range is an octave and a minor third for the mezzo (her top note is a 9th above Middle C).

Baritone:  C# below Middle C up to E above Middle C – the vocal range is an octave and a minor third.

If you prefer a different key, please email do...@moonbeam.net to make a key request.  Once payment is received, you’ll receive a Vocal-Piano arrangement PDF to your email address as well as an mp3.  The music is written out but also has chords above the staves.  (Please note that the mp3 is only available in the recorded key of D major even though the sheet music can be transposed to any key.)

Hope you enjoy the music, and please spread the word, and thank you for your support!

Honour, riches, marriage-blessing,

Long continuance, and increasing,

Hourly joys be still upon you!

Juno sings her blessings on you.

Earth’s increase, foison plenty,

Barns and garners never empty,

Vines with clust’ring bunches growing,

Plants with goodly burden bowing;

Spring come to you at the farthest,

In the very end of harvest!

Scarcity and want shall shun you;

Ceres’ blessing so is on you.
