Shaka Packager: mailing list change

TL;DR: shaka-packager-users is now for announcements only, please post questions/issues on github.

Hi everyone,

When the shaka-packager-users list was first set up, it was intended to be a place for announcements, questions, and general discussions.  In practice, the community seems to prefer to ask questions and start discussions on github and we’ve found it is easier to keep up with incoming questions on github.

With this in mind, we have decided to repurpose the mailing list for announcements only.  

Starting Monday April 2, only Shaka Packager team members will be able to post to the mailing list.  Questions and discussions can be posted to our github issues page.  Our documentation will be updated to reflect this change.

In future, the mailing list will be used for announcing new releases (historically 0-2 per month) and polling the community about features and support (planning for 1-2 per year).

Many people have their email subscription set to "no email", so just this once, I have addressed you all via BCC.  Now that the purpose of the mailing list is changing, you may want to reconsider your email preferences so that you can be update-to-date on all announcements.  If you would like to change your preference, you can visit https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/shaka-packager-users, click the "My settings" button, and then the "Membership and email settings" button.
