Starting October 19 and throughout that week, the City of Pittsburgh will provide tree seedlings free of charge to City residents to plant in their yards.

The week will kick off with a give-away at the City-County Building, located at 414 Grant Street, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2009. Tree seedlings will also be handed out at all Citiparks Farmers’ Markets that week.

The trees to be given away are smaller species. All events are on a “first come, first served” basis and will last until all of the trees have been distributed. This project is generously supported by the Shady Tree Commission, Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest, and Eisler’s Nursery.
