Background

In Indonesian Law, number 44/2009 article 1, stated that the hospital as healthcare institution which is organized complete individual health care which is consist of promotion, prevention, curative, and rehabilitative. Refer to that law; the hospital has to increase health effort through health promotion activities

The Health Promoting Hospital is one of hospital effort to raise competency of the patient,  client, and people to accelerate recovery and rehabilitation period from the patient. Increasing health, prevent health problem and developing communities based on health effort through education by community and back to them, according to their social culture and also need supporting from the policy which is the concern to health concept (Ministry of Health RI, 2010).

Due to hospital accreditation, HPH becomes more important than before.  Patient and family contribution in treatment program through patient and family education refer to their needed, patient and family education standard become significant because it included in a major category with a minimum score is 80%. Assessment involving document and implementation.

In otherwise, health promoting hospital is being needed because the hospital can play its role as a clinical educator especially for its environment. By means an instructor, the hospital has made an effort for decreasing the number of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Health promoting hospital could hold both inside and outside hospital activities for HPH, and it starts from a simple thing, as accustom hand rub using in the hospital.

Improvement efforts have been made by health revitalization in HPH with the objective to support implementation health promotion with acceleration effort to reach SDGs and health Indonesia in 2025. Otherwise, hospital accreditation has the compulsory hospital to develop health promotion as attached in the article of patient and family education.

HPH implementation in last 15 years has not given a maximum result, and its continuity in hospital depend on the commitment from high level officer of hospital  (Ministry of Health RI, 2010). This point can be viewed from the fact that less from 20% hospital which has health promotion section, and assists health promotion in hospital less in impact for health care quality. This condition showed that commitment for continuity support from hospital management was still bad

This international seminar is aimed as a place for sharing experience in developing and reaching out success for health promoting hospital.
