Hi Shaderman,

Thank you for creating the tool and we are trying to include into
Animux which an distribution for Animators.

We were able to bring up the shaderman (old version) interface through
WINE and where able to configure it with the unix renderers (aqsis &
pixie) that already come with animux (in addition to 7 more renderers
- I think we have a total on 9 renderers included in animux). I ran
through the process of saying , rendering but the preview did not show
anything. It was blank (black) window. My assumption is that I need to
use the windows version of pixie and aqsis renderers for it to work.

I will test it out when I get home tonight after I install the
renderers through wine and let you know what happens.

Mark

List of commands and steps
unzipped your shaderman7.zip in /home/animux/shaderman
cd shaderman;
wine shaderman.exe (not sure the name of the file)
then configured setting to use the pixie or aqsis renders in /opt/
pixie and /usr/bin/aqsis
Loaded an example and hit render
(at which point nothing happened in the preview window, but status bar
stated render starting, generating preview or something like that)

There might be a problem here: in order to render something to the
preview area, I'm supplying
Shaderman-original with the special display driver DSO that knows how
to get the window handle
and send the data over. I'm not really sure this works with Linux
renderers, given the DSO is Win32.

Thus, you should either switch to win32 versions of renderers, or just
switch off the realtime rendering
results preview (by adjusting the display driver settings).

Or maybe just try to make the ShaderMan.Next work better.

Cheers,

Hi Alexei,
We installed Pixie.exe and Aqsis.exe with in Wine. I will let you know
what is going on with it. Though this is not our primary mode of
operating your software, we wish to see how we could do it incase for
some users this might be the only option.
I will post some more information once I get home and test it.
(I also need to learn how to use your tool.)
