To all admirers of The
Boss!
My name is Stephen Scott-Fawcett. I am a Fellow of
the Royal Geographical Society (UK) and lecturer on Antarctica.
I am, also, a Committee member of The James Caird
Society (London, UK).
Like many of you, I am a devotee of the Shackleton
legacy. It is my great fortune to be acquainted with many of Shackleton's
descendants, here in the UK.
In October 2008 a group of 5 men (ALL descendants
of Herioc Age explorers (including Shackleton's great grandson and great
nephew)) will embark on a commemorative expedition to celebrate the centenary of
Nimrod.
The Shackleton Centenary Expedition
will cost £300,000. Another £20,000 has to be found for training
in Greenland in April 2007.
The leader, Will Gow, has invited me to assist with
raising funds and public awareness.
Can you help? Please publicise this expedition
among your friends. The media will be picking up on this sometime in 2007 - so
now you have the privilege of advance notice!
More especially, feel free to send donations
(however small) to The Shackleton Centenary Expedition c/o Shackleton House,
Burrell Close, Holt, Norfolk, NR25 6DT, United Kindgom. Sterling cheques
(please) make payable to The Shackleton Centenary Expedition.
All the very best to you all.
