Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

Please find attached the news clipping. Without going to hair-splitting, the news highlights the far-reaching effects of casteism in our society. Gurus who waged an unrelenting war against this ill, we as their so-called Sikhs have failed them. We ourselves are afflicted with this disease, let alone trying to cure others of this malaise.

The news underscores the fact that poverty alone  is not the cause of conversions. 

Gurbani provides us with the boundless potential for improving and uplifting the society. The case provided against the caste system in Gurbani is not just egalitarian, it is logical, eye-catching and immensely spiritual and cosmic.

It is a sad fact that criticism of caste does not figure in most of our sermons, kathas, keertans, kaveesheries and lectures. Such an important aspect of Gurbani preaching and it has been put on the back-burner.

So my sicere request to all of you is to memorize as many quotations as possible from Guru Granth Sahib pertaining to caste and share the frankly wherever the opportunity arises.

I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the life in villages of Punjab. But I can assure you the caste system in Punjab has worsened and is in dire need of being attended to.
