Ajaypal Singh who has been actively involved in Panthic activites from last 15 years is leading the campaign to save the Bareilly(U.P) gurudwaras from the hands of profit seeking people who want to utilize the gurudwara stage for selfish motives.
Through the years Model Town gurudwara in Bareilly has got good income in the form of donations of Sangat and fees from the school being run by gurudwara. Anti-Gurmat people who have least interest in promoting Sikhism want to become member and president of Gurudwara committee to earn personal financial benefits.
On 18th May 2014 GurSikhs led by Ajaypal Singh vehemently opposed the move to make Bhagat Singh gurudwara President and induction of non-amridhari and drinkers in Model Town Gurudwara committee but still the anti-gurmat people won and succeeded in making Bhagat Singh the president of Gurudwara Committee .
No Sooner had Bhagat Singh become president of Gurudwara , his sons along with 10-15 people attacked Ajaypal Singh out side the gurudwara .In this attack Bhagat Singh's sons , Pinka Bakshi , Manu Bakshi participated and fatally injured Ajaypal Singh . They started beating Ajaypal Singh with the shouts " ab to hum jeet gaye ab in logo ko sabak seekhate hai " From 17th May Ajaypal Singh is in Hospital .
People who witnessed the initial attack on Ajaypal Singh were highly critical of Bhagat Singh , his sons and the group.
My sister who visited Ajaypal Veerji in Hospital was near to tears when she was describing the incident to me.
Regarding the Panthic services of Ajaypal Singh : He has been instrumental in running " Gurmat Summer Camp (https://www.facebook.com/gurmatsummercamp.bareilly ) " continuously for ten years in Bareilly. Apart from this he has trained many young Sikhs in turban tying including myself.
