Imam Ali (AS) is the first Shii Imam and the successor of the Last Messenger of Allah, Hazrat Mohammad (SAWA). Imam Ali was appointed by Allah through his Messenger to continue the path of guidance after the Seal of the Messengers passed away. Imam Ali (AS) is a great model for all those who want to live a pure life. Tabari and Abolfaraj Esfahani have mentioned about Imam Ali's Will in their books. The will reads: In the Name of Allah, the most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. This is the will of Ali Ibn-e Abi Talib. He approves that there is no other God but one who has no counterpart. And Mohammad (SAWA) is his servant and Messenger. My Praying, worship, life and death, all is for the sake of Allah. The One who has no counterpart and is the Lord of two Worlds. I have been assigned in this way and I am one of the Muslims. I recommend you (Imam Hasan and Imam
Hosein) to follow the path of the divine virtue. Never seek for the materialistic needs although they would follow you. Never be upset about the worldly items which you lose. Say no words but the right and true ones. At the time of doing something, think of its spiritual reward. Be the enemy to the oppressor and friend to the oppressed. I shall recommend you to follow the path of the divine virtue, to posses the disciplinary manner and self-correcting. That's because the Holy Messenger stated: "The correction among the people is superior than all prayers and fasting." There is no power except it would be effective through Allah's will. Pay attention to your relatives. For the sake of Allah be kind to orphans and do not let them be hungry. The Holy Messenger says: "He who adopts an orphan, Allah definitely takes him/her to the Paradise. And if he/she took advantage of an orphan, Allah
definitely takes him/ her to the H ell". For the sake of Allah, pay attention to Quran so that the others would have no chance to take a lead. Pay attention to your neighbors for it is recommended by the Holy Messenger. Consider Ka'ba as long as you live because you must not forget this place. The least expected reward for the one who pilgrimages Ka'ba, is the forgiveness of all his sins, which he had done. Say all your prayers because they are the best of all deeds. Pay alms, for it will immune you from Allah's anger. For the sake of Allah, pay attention to the Holy War (Jihad) and sacrifice your lives and properties in that way. Help the needy and the poor and share what you have among them. Talk to the people so gently (in the way that God has ordered). Avoid exercising animosity, and separation. Help each other on doing good affairs, but not on the evil ones. May
Allah Almighty protect your progeny. May Allah save you and protect you. For, he is the best of keepers and saviors. Greetings and blessings of Allah be upon you. A number of Imam Ali's (AS) letters, sermons and short sayings have been collected in a book called Nahjul-Balagha. | |
