URGENT APPEAL FOR RINKLE KUMARI

Dear Friend,

Have you heard about Rinkel Kumari? She is an 18 year old Hindu girl from Sindh, Pakistan who was kidnapped at gunpoint on February 24, 2012. She was then taken to a madrassah, molested, forcibly converted to Islam, and then forcibly married to a Muslim man.

Such is also the case with Lata, a Hindu doctor who was kidnapped by Muslim gangsters in Karachi a few days after Rinkel was kidnapped. Sadly, over 50 Hindu and Sikh girls are kidnapped in Pakistan every month. In the case of Rinkel and Lata both girls clearly stated in a supreme court hearing in Islamabad that they were kidnapped and wish to return back home to their parents. However, they were not allowed to do so and are awaiting justice in an unsafe government-run women’s shelter in Karachi where they continue to receive death threats by their abductors.

Below is a link to a petition on change.org that addresses this disgraceful situation and highlights the need for the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to pressure Pakistan into delivering justice to these girls and their families.
