There is still time to sign up for this incredible program! We won't close registration unless it fills. If you've never taken a class with PK, you owe it to yourself to do so!

Wednesday, August 10, 2022; 12-3 p.m.
Fee: $20/members, $25/non-members
Adults 18+

Most people have heard about the decline of honey bees, but there are many other species of bees pollinating our planet, and they need our help, too! The first step is to gain knowledge. In this 3-hour workshop, Patti Koranda (aka PK) will fill you in on the life cycles of these bees and the habitats necessary for their survival. You’ll view our Habitat Stack and the honeybee hives that PK cares for at Sugar Grove Nature Center. Once you understand their needs, you’ll see that doing your part to assist them is easy! Participants will make a native bee house to take home, along with instructions to keep your newfound flying friends happy and healthy! All materials are provided.

PK is a beekeeper with over 10 years of experience. She serves on the board of Central Illinois Beekeeping Association (CIBA), manages the many hives at Sugar Grove Nature Center, and enthusiastically teaches hundreds of people a year on the fascinating lives of bees. She is a Master Naturalist and a retired teacher. This program is a part of our Wild Wednesdays in the Woods series, taking place the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
