The Port of Ephrata has secured a contract to store a Jet in the group hangar. This is a very important relationship for the Port and a very expensive asset to store in the hangar. Therefore the Port has imposed new rules on moving towplanes (or any aircraft) in or out of the hangar.
If you are using a towplane at EPH and need to move the aircraft in or out of the hangar, you may need to call David Lanman at (509-750-8623) prior to moving the aircraft. Here is the decision-tree you should use:
If a Jet is not in the hangar, no call is necessary and you are OK to proceed.
If the Jet is in the hangar, you need to call David Lanman and follow one of the two processes below.
If there are at least 2 people moving the towplane, you may move it immediately after calling David Lanman's Cell phone and letting him know about the movement (he wants to keep a "log" of movements in case of hangar rash). One person should help "spot" the jet during the movement of the towplane to ensure there is no collision.
If you are moving the plane by yourself, "designated Port people" must witness the movement. The towpilot shall call David Lanman's cell and then wait for one of the designated people (which include Barrett and Glassburn) to come over and be a "spotter". A cast of designated people is supposed to be available "7 days a week" according to David, so you shouldn't have to wait too long
Let me know if you have questions or concerns! Thank you,

Subject: [SGC_Discussion] Hangaring Procedure at EPH
Hello to all, I got the following email sent to the SGC Towpilots list. May also be of interest to any members who are flying their own planes in, or who need to pull a glider/trailer temporarily into the hangar to do some work out of the wind. Needless to say this is not a step forward for EPH ops particularly during the high-activity events, contest, encampments, etc. All members, please support your Towpilots at the beginning and end of the day vis a vis the below. Don’t even ask if they need a hand, just be there at the hangar. If this is the future, ugh. Linda.
