I suppose this means Ephrata as well. I wonder if they’re going to sell off their glider fleet? Their L-23’s seem to be in decent shape.

Interesting idea, but their biggest asset are the kids. I wonder if SGC with the help of one or two clubs can provide instruction as student members. We could use the new blood and get a package deal: gliders AND recruits!!

Including their instructors. We just need to find some private funding to continue their program as an SGC program.

I believe the only way it would work is to run it as professional organization probably Monday through Friday. Weekends for regular club members and advanced cross country students. One of the main issues would be taking care of anyone under 18. A chaperone would be needed.

The real upside is some money in the SGC coffers and tows available for the entire season.

Hi - just seeing this thread. Very interested in these ideas. I am a Deputy Commander of Cadets at Northshore Squadron in Bothell. I know LTCs Maxwell out in Ephrata who led the WA CAP Glider program. My daughter attended the last Glider Academy in 2024. I'm a member at Evergreen Soaring and both my two kids are too.

Eager to support this effort - please let me know if I can support this in any way!
