Hi everybody. My father's grandfather came to Canada, but his sister
and mother apparently went to Wales, we think Cardiff, although they
could have branched out from there.
My father's grandfather was born near / in London, the family name at
the time was Klitch, originating from the Black Forest region of
Germany. When Ernest Andre got to Canada, it eventually was decided to
anglicize the name to Knight. I will try to get dates on the move to
Wales. My grandfather, Henry [Harry], died at 64 in 1966. It was his
father who came to Canada. If we randomly assume his father was between
25-30 at the time of Harry's birth, that puts his own birth around
1873, and his sister would have been with 10 years of that, his mother
likely 30 years before, around 1840s. I'll try to finesse this. I'm
really looking for pointers on how to find out if Mom and Sis were in
Cardiff approx 1895-1911.. [let me know if you see obvious errors in
any of this, I AM an extreme "newbie", glad to get any help,
psychiatric or otherwise ^_^ ]
