Someone is purchasing a new PFD today :). I've been told it will
make me go faster? Else, has anyone seen anything new / noteworthy
at the boat show this year?

I was talking to a couple of guys that are building wind generators, water makers, charge controllers and solar panels right here in Canada. The are cruisers and said they had registered their boats here, and that it is a one-time charge. I asked them about the US attitude towards Canadians with a ROC and an onboard VHF, they said it is still necessary to licence your boat as a "ship station", but they found that this has turned into a one-time payment for non-commercial sailors. They also mentioned that there is actually a $35.00 permit for cruising US waters that isn't very well known, but that you should get one if you are headed south! ( I also got a new auto-inflate Mustang with harness & paid less than my old manual Mustang cost two years ago!)
best regards,

Link: I have a WW@ American Lifeboat sextant, that you are welcome to play with...I had it given to me and don’t have a clue how to use it despite also owning a book about such. T

Thanks, Tim, I'll take you up on that offer. I have a generic manual here from a Power & Sail Squadron, have read it through and would like to have a go.
best regards,
