Hello. Could someone please give me an idea of this sail past event.
I would like to attend as I just joined this organization and thought
I could meet members there. I need to book time off work to attend so
need an idea of what time to be where and hope to find a boat that
will take me on as inexperienced crew. Thanks

Racing is to start at 9 or as close to that as we can manage. We'll have 2 races close together so there is time for the sailpast. We'll return to the docks after the second race and regroup.

 

The Fleet plans to leave the docks at 4 for the sailpast. The sailpast doesn't take long. Basically the commodore anchors out and the rest of us sail or motor-sail depending on the wind, past him. After the sailpast the skippers 'dress their boats', by putting up flags. This gives some skippers a chance to use all of those race flags they have collecting dust in the basement. Commodore Tim Francis has invited club members to his boat for a wine and cheese reception after the sailpast.

 

You are welcome to join us on Tabasco (orange-red hauled C&C in slip D5) for any or all of the day.

Sailboat racing is very hard to predict since it depends on the wind. The scheduled time for race 2 is 11. Please confirm if you plan to race since we'll have to come in and pick you up at the dock. You can phone my cell phone if needed 289-231-8763 but be warned I don't always hear it on the water.
