I have been planning to attend Bible study on Thursday, but the new
year did not start out on a good foot! I will try again next week.
In the meantime I received the below e-mail from Sr. Diane Guy and I
didn't know if anyone from St. Greg's was going to attend? ~Jamie

E-mail from Sr. Diane Guy:
We have scheduled Mr. Michael Hayes, author of Googling God, The
Religious Landscape of People in their 20's and 30's for a YAM
symposium at the NEW DIOCESAN PASTORAL CENTER on March 8, 2008---
some of you will remember Mike as a keynote presenter at our annual
gathering in 2004.

About: Mike Hayes
Mike co-founded BustedHalo.com with Fr. Brett Hoover,CSP, in December
2001. In addition to his work at BustedHalo, Mike serves as the
President of the board of directors for the National Catholic Young
Adult Ministry Association. A frequent speaker on ministering to young
adults, Mike is the author of Googling God: The Religious Landscape
of People in their 20s and 30s with Paulist Press. In 2002, Mike
received a Catholic Press Association Award for his article
"Transformation and the 20's and 30's Crowd" that appeared in Share
the Word magazine.

Before working in ministry, Mike produced radio talk shows at WFAN and
WOR in New York and also covered major league baseball for NPR and
WOR.
Mike and his wife, Marion, are residents of Queens, New York.

More info:

This year, for the 2008 YAM Convention, we welcome all participants,
leadership, and parish staff involved with Young Adult Ministry across
the Diocese.

Our main speaker will be Mike Hayes, co-founder and managing editor of
the Jesuit website BustedHalo.com and author of the new book, Googling
God. With his help, we will explore the changing landscape of the
ministry for those in their 20s and 30s.

With Mike's guidance we will specifically focus on four main
questions:

- What are the current trends (present state of Young Adult
Ministry)
- What are our values
- What are our strengths
- What are the challenges for the future

We want a succinct statement to present to the new director of the
campus and young adult ministry office.

Please plan to join us on Saturday, March 8, 2008 for this energizing
and engaging convention as we give time for self-reflection,
community, and growth. Additional details will be released after a
January 19 committee meeting.
