There's this new chiller in the market, brand SFILIGOI which
supposedly, is from Italy. It costs about the same as the
TECO brand or slightly cheaper.
The good thing about this new chiller is that it's only
100W and yet can cool a 250 litre tank by 5 degrees Centigrade.
There's another bigger model, 200W that can bring down the
temperature of a 400 litre tank by the same margin. Both
models come with digital thermostats and have a compressor
that is easily detachable and replaceable.

Looks like this is comparable to the Teco RA200 model....which is rated at
220 watts
comsumption but can pull down almost 5C for a 300 litre tank max.
Any idea about the cost and where is it available...(eg which LFS).
How about the footprint....because the Teco RA200 model has a relatively
small footprint...
about 13" x 11"...which is great because it can fit into almost any cabinet.
Well....if this SFILIGOI mode is as good as rated (100W only), it should
half the running costs
of the Teco model....
Are you using one?....

Roy, hi,
I didn't say where it was selling on my post because I didn't want
people to get the impression that I'm advertising for some particular
fish shop and also I have reservations that some people may think
that I make a commission out of this. But since you asked, it's sold
at Happy Aquarium.
As for cost, I rather not say because I always believe that prices
are never fixed. You can get a discount if you know how to bargain
or if you have connections. So, sorry, Roy. I think it's better
you find it out yourself from Happy.
As for the size of the chiller, it's 350mmX300mmX230mm. It's not
stated clearly in the specs but I suppose the footprint is the last
2 figures. That would be about 12 X 9 in inches. Both models,
100W and 200W are exactly the same size.

Yup, I believe so. That's why I think it's worth considering.

Er, no. Not yet, I was hoping that someone here will buy one, try
it out and let us know how good it really is. Anyone want to be
the guinea pig? :)

Even if you are advertising for them, I doubt if u will ever see a queue of
pple rushing to
buy one....just because you posted it here....chillers are heavy duty
investments u know.

Hey, you are not doing us any favours by saying 'sitting on the fence' on
this issue.
Sure, prices are never fixed, but that does not mean you can't even give us
a 'ball-park'
number or even the recommended retail price for us to use as a guide. I know
I can get
a good price for the Teco model from Aquatechnic, and so....if this
ball-park price of the
SFILIGOI model is NOT competitive, I won't even bother to call Happy
Aquarium.
(nevermind about the lower operating costs...etc)
Whats more important is that I know I can get good technical service for the
Teco model
several years down the road, but for SFILIGOI, who knows???? I doubt if
Happy Aquarium,
the LFS provides backup service themselves.

Nope. Not at $800-$900+ bucks for a chiller.
rgds,
