Their damn fucking fucked up DHCP server is mother fucking fucked up.

Why can't they just issue everyone a fixed IP like Magix?
What's the point of having a DCHP server that doesn't work properly?
They can then burn their useless DHCP server.

Broadband access my ass! The only things that are getting broader
around here are their damn pockets!

I have had a static IP since on cable modem and was wondering what's the
shouting all about. Care to elaborate?

Kinda weird to know that Magix uses static IP, since Magix also uses
a DHCP server and assigns me dynamic IPs that change whenever I log on
after logging off.
I believe only the ATM users get a static IP, the rest of us all
hold dynamic ones.

Anybody tried using DHCP on Win2K? Seems like the SCV dhcp server is not
able to supply the correct subnet mask and gateway to a Win2K client
machine. Anybody with the same experience and manage to go around it?

Weiming

Hi, exactly the same here. I reported to SCV helpdesk recently, and an
engineer called me up today, saying it should not happen, however, he never
did even a single test yet!

Here is my work around, boot to Windows 9x (I have dual boot) and grab a IP,
set this IP fixedly in Win2K, also put a correct subnet mask, DNS settings
as well. However, to make sure this IP BELONG to you, you have to boot into
Windows 9x at least once a day, just to renew the IP, a bit troublesome,
right? but no choice, anyway, booting into Windows 9x and reboot to Windows
2000 only takes about a few minutes, still acceptable, right?

You do not need to boot into Win9X to grab an IP. When you are in Win2K,
you can also grab an IP (use ipconfig) but the problem is that you do not
get the correct gateway and subnet mask.
