wiremaps

Hello to everyone
Is technically feasible the use of wiremaps?
Seems interesting to visualize data (as 3D visualization on top of the
table where is projected the Processing stuff with google maps..)
but..how much time (and effort) is required to setup a simple
experiment?
Unfortunately I am totally new..anyone had previous experience in this
kind of stuff?

Hey Davide,

Technically it's feasible, although it would be best to simplify this. I
imagine the simpliest version to start with , would be to use thicker
rods (not threads), where rods could be just be stuck vertically in the
table. We would need to drill few dozens (at least) holes in the table,
and stick the rods there.. and position projector behind/on the side, so
it can illuminate them.

The best would be to have some sort of semi-transparent material, like
milky acrylic... but now it's too late to order them I think... maybe
they could be... 5mm diameter plastic drinking straws ? :-)

Or anything that is mildly transparent... (and straight!)

If you want to go with full sized prototype (and with threads), this is
also doable!

Ok, thanks Przemek. Excuse me for this post..seems like as
brainstorming..However I would post a simple diagram of the idea..
I developed this in the last days but I am not sure that could work
fine..and maybe is better to focus attention on other ideas..
Basically I was thinking that the wires (as you said, paper or finally
the drinking straws!) could be used to visualize data..I imagine a
stream (as traffic..bycicle..people..) visualized in its intensity on
the wires.. In this configuration the wires could be located on the
streets..
In another configuration the wires could be used as aid to model the
plastic of physical model..
But..as said before..I have a little troubles in how this stuff can
work :-D ..for example the wires could affect the kinect scan..and I
don't know how to create, setup and run the program for the wire's
projector.
Moreover seems too static and constrained experiment.. What do you
think?
