Hello friends,
The San Francisco Yellow Bike Project is writing today with some great news. We are signing a lease today on a new space where we can store and work on all of the bicycles donated to us over the past year! We are preparing to move in to 25 Division St. (
http://goo.gl/maps/4YCo ), just behind the traffic circle at Townsend. We will be sharing the space with friend of the project, Lon Payne, who will be storing and working on the single speed conversions he puts on the street.
With the excitement of the move, we also recognize a we take a new set of responsibilities. From the baseline of making our rent and insurance payment every month, to the bigger picture of finding volunteers and starting to support our projects, we now come to you asking for help. There are many opportunities to help. Volunteers are now one of our biggest assets, and our need for help is great. On a general level be sure to use our volunteer sign-up sheet (
http://www.sfyellowbike.org/volunteer.html ) or our donation form (
http://www.sfyellowbike.org/donate.html ).
The first opportunity to help is upon us. If you have a cargo bike, trailer, or other pedal-powered machine fit for moving bicycles and their related parts--we need you. We have a moving party scheduled for this upcoming holiday morning, the 4th of July. We know...really short notice. If you happen to be free, let us know, and then come be a part! The locations are very close to each other--less than a mile--so even if you DON'T have have a cargo bike, you could walk a bike or some parts from the storage to the new shop.
Meet-Up
We will work until lunch time. SFYBP Will buy some pizza and beverages for all those who come to help! If you have any questions please call Nathan Woody at
415-273-9663.
We are looking forward to getting the project off the ground and getting bikes on the street! There are going to be many opportunities to get involved as SFYBP becomes a solid resource for cyclists in San Francisco. We look forward to working with you, and thank you for your continued support.
Happy Pedaling,
Adam, Mary Kay, and Nathan
