Dear fifth grade parents,
It is very exciting to think that a week from today, we will be departing for Colorado! Thank you Andrea, for all of the emails to make sure everyone has a ride, because it is a very long walk! We also have A list of chaperones who all happen to be faculty members as well.
The chaperones are Peter Wollheim, Karleen Whitcomb, Elle Esparsa, and Thomas Baudhuin.
We will be leaving from School around 8:20/8:30 AM on Thursday, May 12. My hope is that we arrive on campus at eight, and we can spend 20 minutes  or so loading the cars and bus in preparation for departure.
Please send your child with a good-sized snack, and lunch (and water bottle). Students will not be given food until Thursday evening for dinner at Shepherd Valley Waldorf school.
Let's meet behind the high school on the far end of the parking lot where we have gathered for other trips.

Important information for all who are driving:
Every driver who is driving a child other than their own, needs to have a copy of their driver's license and insurance on file with Cita before we leave.
If you have already driven this year, then you are squared away. How ever, if you have not driven for a school event this year but have done it last year, you need to submit a copy of your insurance and license for this year. All drivers should be sure to share cell numbers before departure.
Furthermore, in reviewing the handbook guidelines, there's to be no music played in the cars during the trip, and students are also not to be using electronic devices of any kind.
Please follow these guidelines, as we need to provide the same experience for the students regardless of which vehicle they are in.
We will be spending two nights in Colorado, and returning on Saturday, May 14th. I plan on leaving at approximately 8:30 AM, (and earlier if possible) but I will communicate to you via email from the road, what time we plan on arriving at school.

Packing list, please label everything!
Keep in mind we are driving seven hours north, and the weather MAY be cold.

LIST:
Sleeping pad, sleeping bag, optional small pillow
Day pack for water bottle, sunscreen, hat, rain coat, etc
Warm hat, a sun hat, sunscreen, water bottle, raincoat, or rainproof jacket, warm jacket, optional gloves, comfortable sweatpants or activewear pants, One pair jeans/pants, in addition to the outfit worn on Thursday going to Colorado,
One pair shorts, T-shirt, Long sleeve shirt,
pajamas, underwear, socks (3prs) plus an additional pair of shoes in case it rains (boots also fine)
Toiletries,  small towel
Optional but important:
Cards, travel games, play dough, books, activity books, journals (NO alarm clocks, cameras, Swiss Army knives, flashlights necessary).
The more each students' belongings are packed inside their packs, the less chance there is of things getting lost.
And now since I have listed everything under the sun, please feel free to omit things if you know your child is likely to be comfortable wearing the same outfit on Thursday andSaturday.
If I have forgotten to mention anything, please let me know, as I am sure there will be an additional email sent out to clarify any last minute details.
We will be sleeping in the shepherd Valley Waldorf school, and the Pentathlon will be held at the Shining Mountain Waldorf school.
I will provide directions to both locations once I have received them from the volunteers helping to make our trip easier.

For any drivers wishing to depart directly from their homes, please speak to me prior toThursday so that I can account for those children you may be taking with you.
For the rest of us, we will do our best to travel as a group, however rest stops may make it easier for everyone to go at his or her desired pace, and we can convene at the shepherd valley Waldorf school once we arrive.
Thank you for all of your support, as we prepare to go on this wonderful adventure! The students are very excited and I am sure they will represent our school with Grace, beauty, and excellence! Warmly, Peter Sciarretta
