Subject: Final Gathering and Pentathlon Thoughts

Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for all of your patience and support surrounding our Pentathlon weekend! And a special thank you to all the parents who attended the weekend and were willing to help whenever and wherever possible. There were many people who made this weekend so wonderful, and
I would especially like to thank our fearless chaperones; Peter Wollheim, Thomas Baudhuin, Elle Esparsa, and Karleen Whitcomb! A special thank you goes to Andrea Otero for her pre-Pentathlon organizing and emailing, and , and...
Also thank you to Blyth for her photography, to Cynthia for her food preparation and volunteer organizing, to Mark for being a Pentathlon volunteer, and to Enrique for driving the bus.

The Shepherd Valley Waldorf School was incredibly generous in sharing their space with us, and the fifth-grade class provided us with a delicious dinner on Thursday night. In fact, they gave us so much food that we were able to eat our Thursday dinner again on Friday evening!
The Shepherd Valley School also invited us to see the seventh grade class play, which was a delight! We were received so well both at Shepherd Valley where we slept, and the Shining Mountain Waldorf School.
The three days were full of excitement, from bus ride up through pentathlon day, to the moment we returned back in Santa Fe.
I was quite impressed with the conduct of our students throughout the course of the trip, and, in particular, their sense of camaraderie  with other Waldorf students.
And all this as students wrestled with lingering illnesses, coughs, sore throats, and more…
All in all, the fifth-graders conducted themselves with a high degree of grace and beauty!
And, as we move into the last weeks of school, I wanted to pass along an important invitation for our final
meeting on Wednesday, May 25th at 6:00 pm We would love to have every student represented by a parent.  Students and their siblings are welcome! There will be games for the children and a special slideshow presentation.  Please bring a finger-food, snack, or a dessert to share (plates, cups and drinks will be provided).
The theme of this meeting is Welcome to Middle School!  New things to come and an exciting new journey!
This evening has been planned by a diligent task force of the Parent Council. They have gone to great lengths to insure this evening will be
a lot of fun and a great way to end the year as a class!
Warmly,
Peter Sciarretta
on behalf of the Parent Council
