Hello all,
My ramblings were somewhat incoherent last night--chalk it up to the 3,500+ mile-drive I returned from less than 24 hours before our meeting! Here's a more concise low-down on both the Annual Fund and international student hosting:
Annual Fund "100% in 100 days" Campaign
The goal is to complete our school's Annual Fund solicitation by Winter Break.
The minimum suggested gift to the school is $100 (can be paid in installments online).
Many in our class have already pledged or given. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Even though we're the largest class on campus, let's be the first to hit 100% and win our students a party!
Here's how to make your gift (Note: 1 donation/family counts as participation in all of your student's classes).
Seeking Host Families for International Students
The Santa Fe Waldorf High School is unique in Santa Fe for the wealth of international opportunities it offers students. Our mission is to make international educational experiences part of each and every Waldorf student's middle and high school experience and continue to expand our community beyond the "borders" of our small school and city.
Last year 10% of our High School was international during the last quarter, with students from Waldorf High Schools in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, Germany, and Austria our school and living with SFWS families.
Waldorf students from around the world will have the opportunity to attend our high school again this spring, and we are seeking host families for the short, 2-month period. (Host families receive a small stipend, plus much guidance and support from the International Student Task Force.)
Our High School has also recently teamed up with Youth For Understanding, a well-regarded international student placement agency. We welcomed our first YFU student, Angela, a German 11th grader, to our school this week. Angela is in need of a host family or families from November thru the end of the school year. Message me or call if you have interest in hosting her!
Finally,... It's never too early to think about offering your own students an enriching international experience. Hosting is a 2-month commitment, and there are myriad other ways to give your students exposure to Waldorf as an international school movement:
*Invite international students for dinner with your family--and add some red or green chile to the menu!
Include a foreign student on a typically New Mexican outing, from a simple after school hike, to a pueblo visit, or weekend getaway. It's surprisingly easy and undeniably enriching! See, call, or message me
