Summary
SC meets next week. Send us some decisions to make.

Background
SFUWH is an advanced, modern club with an actual club charter that defines who we are and what we do. Said charter calls for a yearly-elected "steering committee" (SC) of 3 generous souls who get to make decisions for the club at large, handle issues, get yelled at, etc. As per the charter, this committee is to meet quarterly.
SC this year is Holland, Matt, and myself. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, August 2.

Summary
  • Practice goes up $2 for everyone: $7 for adults, $5 for kids.
  • The reduced "kid" fee stops at 18 years of age.
  • Monday practice starts at 8pm.
  • No more "first time is free": $7 for everyone, always.
  • All these go into effect starting October 1.

Context
Your club has been slowly losing money over the last 18 months. Thanks to various factors, our attendance numbers aren't what they used to be. Pool cost, however, has gone up.

To successfully address this problem, we propose to do the following.
  1. Monday practice is extra long, and well attended; however, we basically never start on time. Costly, paid-for, pool time, goes unused. We are therefore shortening practice by 30 minutes, starting at 8pm, rather than 7:30pm.
  2. The current sliding scale for practice, $5-$10, is effectively understood, and acted on, as $5/practice. This is not sustainable with our current attendance, and a $2 increase is required to merely break even.
I think most of you will trust we have considered other options, and have only reached these conclusions with reluctance.

The obvious third option: grow the club by getting more players, is a long-term project that everyone should feel responsible for -- and I think all of us are. As always: to keep hockey alive, come play hockey, and bring your friends.

First Time Practice Collection
SF hockey is now $7 for everyone ($5 if you're under 18 years of age.) There is no more "first time is free". When you bring friends to hockey, please help us collect their dues.

We are setting ourselves up on Venmo, and Square, to accept ad-hoc payments. We already accept Paypal, payments over Gmail, and personal checks (not cash).

Payments Plans (Recurring Subscriptions)
Costs of the payment plans have not changed. You will simply get a little bit less hockey for the same amount. This is our preferred payment option, and we expect all regular players to enroll.

The balance page will be reset on October 1; more details follow.
Full meeting notes are available.
