Guys, we should try to all get together sometime over the break, not to
work so much as to hang out and discuss the future of things.
There's a party at my house on the Winter Soltice (Friday the 22nd) and
if you're in town and you'd like to stop by, do. I don't know the exact
time or anything like that yet, but I'll keep you breifed. Call.
Andrew and I have been talking about some future plans and things.
I'd like to start a discussion here, or in real life, about the
following:

Why do we do theatre?

Respond plentifully.

I don't know, James. You tell us. :-P

I won't speak for everyone, 'cause I know Greer and the twins and Alex
and all have a pretty damned big interest in the whole shebang. But if
you guys hadn't figured it out by now, I never really helped out
because I consider it to be OMG SO FUN. After all, I'm a sociology
major. I study humanity in an entirely different context. I've mostly
been involved because you boys seemed so enthusiastic about it, and I
decided "eh, what the hell?" and gave a hand or five because it'd make
you happy. And, really, because I'd never have gotten to see you
otherwise. Kirsten was always the same way. Color me selfish, but I
really just wanted to hang out with you guys the way we always used to.

Of course, this brings to light an entirely different topic, one that's
not suitable for group discussion because it's not theatre business.
Consider my recent level of involvement and make a few mental leaps
from there, if you want to.

And really, things have been changing for a lot of us this year. I'm
not even sure if I want to be involved in this company's future, but
that's just because of my opinions on a few things. Plus it's more
likely I'll be taking a summer quarter here at Tech than it is that
I'll be home for summer. That decision...it's a lot more
StFrTrTh-related than one might think. Our interactions over Christmas
break will probably decide that for me.

But we'll see.

Hey Guys,
I think the theatre should keep going, but I realise that y'all are
getting more and more busy. Thus, I think we should do less shows and
run them longer. This would allow us to create better performances with
more rehearsals. It would also give crew members more time to design
sets and costumes, sew, and gather props. I think our past performances
were great, but memorizing lines and sewing costumes the night before a
production is wild. Maybe one really awesome show a year that runs four
or more times would be best.Let's pace our selves reasonably. I love
the St. Francisville Transitory Theatre and all of its members.
Merry Christmas to All,
Lily B.
P.S. I won't be able to make it to the party due to a previous
engagement, but y'all have fun!

Guys?
What, Lily, you a Northerner. Really tho', ya'll, I agree 100% with Lily. I
think the last show made it evident that quality suffered some due to short
preparation time. For those who remember "Complete Works" was rehearsed for
over six months. I've had great fun doing all these shows with ya'll,
and I'd love for it to continue. This summer, it was really hard for me to
not participate in the second show. The concept was interesting, the company
varied and the show itself was special to me because I felt I knew
intimately what you all were doing. For once, I didn't care if the audience
' got it.' I did. But as I started to say before I started gushing, time
and physical demands made made it difficult for me to particpate.

Excuse my French.
Theatre --I do it for James, because it makes me feel young, exercises my
brain, entertains people, makes St. Francisville grow, makes friends of
those who might not otherwise be, brings Adam to my house and Elizabeth, but
most of all because its fun and challenging and thrilling and hard work and
gratifying and FUN.
I'll always do whatever I can to keep this animal alive.
