Dana Cafe: Summer Gift Circle & Community SWAP! (This Sunday!)

I hope you are all enjoying your summer! This Sunday we are having a gift circle and Community SWAP at the Dana Cafe- you are all warmly invited! See details below:

This weekend we will be chillin’ in the heart of our summer season! Come join us for the first gift circle and community SWAP at Dana Cafe. We will gather for a gift circle where you may express a need, offer something or have a need met. These needs and offerings can range anywhere from childcare to a place to stay or live, from stuff and physical items to volunteers for a project or even a ride share. Gift circles are an age old practice used to connect folks together in community to support one another. You are only required to bring yourself and a community spirit to the circle!

After the circle, hang out as we continue the SWAP! We’ll have music and light snacks to share. Bring something, take something. All items are free! Reuse, re-purpose, up-cycle and share! Meet folks and have a bit of summer enjoyment in the spirit of supportive, sustainable, resilient, anti-consumerist, anti-capitalist community in these crazy times! It’s amazing how much we can actually provide for each other just by coming together in this way.

We will gather as usual at TAC in North Oakland. Please arrive by 5:45pm to attend the gift circle. Bring an item or two to swap if you’d like. You may find you receive exactly what you came for =).

SWAP Guidlines:
1. Please be mindful of the condition of any items you intend to bring.
2. Please bring no more than just a few choice items to swap.
3. Bring only items that can be easily carried away.
4. Skills and services are welcomed.
5. Barter arrangements can be made privately between parties.

This event is offered freely.
