Treasured Community,

The Indigenous proverb, "We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children" encourages the exploration of our role along the continuum of ancestor and descendent. How has the convergence of our families brought us to this present moment? What global and personal conflicts are we acting out and how do we work through them to create a sustainable society and habitable planet for ourselves and for our descendants?

WIth this is mind, the Dana Cafe truly welcomes anti-oppression activists Seneca Miller and Rebecca Cascade to guide our next session, Reclaiming Ancestral Wisdom for Healing, Justice and Change. This workshop is especially timely in the midst of the Thanksgiving/Indigenous Peoples Sunrise Ceremony gatherings - Through expressive arts, we will examine the edges of separation and connection. Absolutely everybody is welcome to join us explore the restorative potential found within these intersections.

In other news, after the December session next Sunday, the Dana Cafe team will honor winter by hibernating for the month of January - We will re-join you in the new year.  We hope that all of you are surrounded by love throughout the holiday season - and we thank each of you for being a part of the Dana Cafe.

Love Always,

Syra & Mariam

December 1st: Reclaiming Ancestral Wisdom for Healing, Justice and Change with Seneca Miller & Rebecca Cascade

In the seeds we sow are encoded our ancient roots and ancestral memories; the very life-force that has nourished the people, the land, and the relationships between them, and then passed through them from generation to generation for hundreds of thousands of years...

In this workshop, Rebecca and Seneca will guide us as we connect to the wisdom of these old root seeds and of the ancestors and descendants within each of us. Through expressive arts and ritual we will connect to our ancestral memories and work to heal the wounds that separate us from them.

Through this exploration we will strengthen our self-knowledge as well as deepen our collective understandings through the sharing of our diverse responses, weaving a healing tapestry of our ancestral wisdoms.  Acknowledging the brilliance we all hold, the experience will be facilitated to maximize co-creation and collective experiential education. Together we will sow the seeds gifted to us by our ancestors for our descendants.

Rebecca Cascade & Seneca Miller are Co-Founders of Rooted Seeds Project. They are anti-oppression, social justice activists of European descent, as well as earth-based spiritual practitioners, healers, artists and educators. They have been collaborating on projects, workshops, healing and art since 2008.

They utilize the tools of the expressive arts, deep listening, play, nature connection, and ritual in the groups, individuals and families they work with. Their shared dedication to white anti-racist allyship and undoing oppression serves as a foundation to their commitment to collective liberation.

Together, their work is dedicated to supporting the transformation needed to co-create a culture that lives in right relationship and ensures a just future for the generations to come.
