This May 28th Humboldt Randonneurs brevet will bring back the
Unknown Coast 300K, the classic route designed by Andrea Achili starts and finishes in Arcata, Ca., travels out through the quaint victorian town of Ferndale for the first raw climb over to the the Matole River valley in a region of northern California known as the Lost Coast due to its rugged remoteness. Riders will have opportunities to stop and refuel in the lovely town of Petrolia, site of California's earliest oil discoveries, then travel on to Honeydew before climbing over Bull Creek Flat (we never could find the 'flat') and descending into the Humboldt Redwoods on one lane roads at Rockefeller forest, then heading up the Eel River on silky smooth and scenic Avenue of the Giants to Philipsville before returning to Rio Dell and traveling Blue Slide rd alone the Eel River on the way back to Arcata.
