Back last summer, SFR planned June 24th as the kickoff date for the 2023 Adventure Series. 28 riders started out from East Beach to tackle perhaps the hardest 200km that SFR offers. The shortest elapsed time for any finisher on that route is 9:04, but by far most riders take closer to, or more than 10 hours to finish. In the early days, few even finished before control closing time.

2014 was the highwater mark in terms of participation for the Marin Mountains, when we had 37 starters and 29 finishers. Roy Ross was one of those finishers.

2023 is in 2nd place in terms of # of finishers, with 24, tied with 2022 (but with a better finish rate with 5 DNFs vs 12)

Late in the game, it became apparent that more than one SFR member needed one more qualifier to complete their PBP registration, so SFR was able to get two more ACP brevets on the calendar (your RBA knows a guy ...) and we ran a 400 (Hopland) and 600 (Mendocino Coast) which  had 3 riders each. I'm happy to report all riders needing to complete that last qualifier did so and four more SFR members are now headed for PBP in August. Contrats to Andrew Linn and Chuck Schroyer (600k) and Peter Curley and Dan Magnusson (400k) on your completion, and tip of the cap to Tara Flannagan and Pierre Moreels for more than just tagging along on those rides!

Hey all, I rode unofficial sweep on the Marin Mountains 200k (failed to register, train, pack, go to bed on time, etc, so started a couple hours behind) and I found a multi-tool on the bolinas ridge dirt.  If any of you see this and it's yours, email me the type of tool and your address and I'll send it.

Cheers!
