I just posted the results for the Nov 5 Del Puerto Canyon 200k.

This year I missed interacting with many old friends and new club
members as I was doing a few volunteer rides, hope to ride many miles

On Saturday morning (Nov 5, 2011) Bob Redmond and I headed south from
Sonoma County to join the San Francisco Randonneur's 200K Del Puerto
Canyon brevet. There was a big group of 85 well-dressed cyclists at
the start, many sporting classic randonneur wool jerseys. It was
pretty chilly and I was glad of all my layers, especially on the
descents but even on the uphill sections.
There were only two hills in the whole ride, but they added up to
almost 6,000 feet of climbing. Del Puerto Canyon Road was the true
gem of this ride -- for 25 miles the road wound through beautiful and
isolated country, climbing gradually (and then not so gradually) up to
the top of the ridge. It felt as though we were out in the middle of
nowhere, hard to believe we were so close to the East Bay. We even
saw a bobcat on the side of the road!
The Junction Cafe provided a warm rest stop, with hot drinks and
friendly service, then the climbing continued for another 5 miles or
so. Finally we reached the "high point" of the ride and began a 30
mile downhill trend on Mines Road.
We rode all day under grey skies, and felt a few sprinkles here and
there, but Bob and I reached the finish about an hour before it
started raining. SFR met us at a Starbucks with complimentary hot
drinks and pastries which were much appreciated. This ride was a
great way to end the 2011 brevet season, with beautiful scenery,
challenging climbs and good company along the way.
