Dear Randos,

I've got myself all signed up for a five-day, 365-mile supported ride at the beginning of September, and I simply want to do my best to make sure the event has enough participants to hit the minimum number for the folks organizing it to pull it off. Minimum is 30 riders.

The ride goes from Reno, Nevada to Fort Bragg, California, over an extended Labor Day weekend. The route is two thirds dirt(!), and has several passes at ~7,000' elevation. Your camping gear is driven to each night's campsite, and, at the end, you & your bike & your stuff get delivered by hired bus from Ft. Bragg to San Francisco. (I'm getting to the Reno start by Amtrak the day before the ride.) The ~$800 registration includes sag support and breakfast & dinner meals each day.

Here are a rider's pictures from the ride from a couple of years ago:

This is the registration page:

This is the organizer's page:

(Note -- some of the text may be from a previous running, it is now indeed spread across five days, no longer crammed into four days.)

I'd love some Rando company on this ride. There's no way I would ever attempt such a route on my own. Come join the fun!

(I do not stand to profit from this in the financial sense -- aside from looking forward to "profiting" from an awesome experience!)

I am familiar with some of those roads (e.g., Sherwood Rd west of Willits) and can attest to their awesomeness and difficulty. Also, a friend at work who rode Reno-to-Mendocino a year or two ago absolutely loved it.

This would be a fun self-supported tour, too.

I've ridden it both times that its run before.   The 5-day version should be even better.   The route is beautiful.

Heres some pics from 2014, including a few familiar faces: Reno2Mendo2014

Dear Randos,

I'm bumping this post, as this ride needs a couple of more participants registered in the next couple of days to make it fly, otherwise it's gonna get nixed. Whoops!!

$100 discount available: drop me a line if you're interested -- I'll send you the $50-off registration discount code, and I'll give you my associated $50 rider-finder's bonus, making a total of $100 off for you. :)

Come do this awesome route with me! :D :D :D

I posted this on my Facebook and encouraged friends to do it. I will be on a business trip until Sept 2, otherwise I'd be so there. Hope it goes!
