Jitensha Studio in Berkeley, much-beloved and long-standing local haven for many things randonneureal, sensible, and beautiful, is raising money to relocate: the building on Bancroft they've been in for many years is finally slated for demolition and "redevelopment" (so called) into luxury apartments. As of this morning they arere close to reaching their goal ($15,000). You might consider throwing in a couple bucks to help them continue, and in so doing shore up the economic and cosmological balance between luxury apartments and sui generis bicycle shops.

Here's a link to the fundraiser, which includes a nice little history of the shop.

Hope this is OK to circulate here – this has been going around but thought some on this list might want to be in the loop.

One may quibble with student housing described as “luxury apartments.” 🙄 I have donated.

Do we know when the move will take place?
Have they resumed regular opening hours?  I think for awhile they were open by appointment only.
