I wanted to send a quick note about the status of the SFR list.
First, the list subscriber-ship is up to 276 strong. Considering that
we started out with less than 40 participants just over a year ago, I
consider this a huge success!
Next, I've updated the list's home page with some guidelines. See

Welcome to the official group of the San Francisco Randonneurs (SFR)
cycling club, serving as a network, forum, and information hub to
encourage and faciliate bicycle cyclo-touring and randonneuring
activities in and around San Francisco, California!
This list is for discussions of routes, equipment, weather, rides,
etc. -- to further the enjoyment of randonneuring, facilitate our own
interpersonal connections as members of SFR and/or RUSA, and to
encourage others to join us on our rides. SFR is a volunteer-based
club – the people who contribute to the smooth running of the club,
maintain the club calendar, ensure route accuracy, coordinate the
staffed controls for our rides, and administer the email list and
website all do so on a volunteer basis. The SFR mailing list is open
to anyone with an interest in cycling. You need not be an SFR member
or RUSA member to subscribe.
Participants are expected to be civil and respectful towards each
other, SFR volunteers, RUSA officials, and anyone else participating
in our branch of randonneuring. Inflammatory/disparaging personal
remarks, off-topic posts, and unsolicited commercial email (spam) will
not be tolerated and should not be posted to the group. At the
discretion of the group administrators, non-compliance with these
rules may result in either a private warning or immediate
removal/banning from the group.

Remember that due to popular demand, replies are by default sent to
the author of the message instead of back to the whole list. I
encourage everyone to consider this each time you reply to a message
-- take a moment to review your response, and decide whether it's
appropriate for the entire list, or better-suited to be just sent back
to the original poster. (The recent thread on jerseys with everyone
voicing their interest and preferred style/design comes to mind --
since Todd is managing that project, most of those replies were
probably best suited to go directly to him.)
Finally, I have updated the footer that is included with each outgoing
message to include a link back to the group's home page, plus a link
to the club's main website:
